On a high mountain
Traditional song of Crete where an eagle sits on a high mountain wet and
snowy and begs the sun to rise and shine to make the snow melt from its wings
and the ice from its talons.
White seabirds
Traditional Cretan song. The singer asks the seabirds when they see his beloved one,
who is away, to greet her and tell her how much he loves her.
My black swallow
The man is abroad away from his family and he calls the black swallow and
the white pigeon from his home country, to lower their wings and give them a
letter for his beloved one and his mother.
