CLEAN CORNER

for winter? Most of us will only drive our Porsches when the roads are clear even though the it may be well below freezing out there. There are many Porsche owners who drive their car all winter long through the snow, salt and whatever. So in this article I will try to get both types of owners some advice on how to get your Porsche ready for winter.
First I will start with the more obvious steps you must take to drive a Porsche in cold weather:
Purchase a set of winter mats for your interior. Those carpet mats will not protect your car’s interior from all the elements winter brings into your car.
Tires are important even if you are just going to breakfast on Saturday morning on a clear day. When the temperature drops to 37 degrees your summer tire
temperature drops. Also check the air pressure in your tires, as the temperature falls so does the air pressure. If you drive in the snow you really need winter tires. With most Porsches being rear wheel drive only they will have very little traction in the snow with summer or even all-season tires. So get some winter tires for your car.
If you leave your car outdoor in the winter be careful how you brush the snow off your car. Just clean off the windows so you can see, then remove the snow from the car leaving about 1/2” to 1” on the car so you won’t scratch the car’s nish. If you have a soft top just remove the snow by pushing it off with your hands. You do not want to put any pressure on the cloth top, they can shatter like thin glass when frozen.
Now I’m going to cover how to protect your Porsche’s nish. The winter is very hard on every part of your car. Just like you protect yourself from winter with heavier clothes, your car needs the same level of protection from the winter elements. During the winter months, your car’s nish, tires, interior and convertible top are at the mercy of winters elements. (such as snow, sand, salt and road slush). I going to cover how to protect the 5 main areas of your Porsche.
