On September 25, 2015, 193 Heads of State and Government
adopted 17 ambitious goals to end poverty, hunger, and
inequality, improve access to health, water and education, take
concrete action on climate change and the environment, uphold
peace, build strong institutions and partnerships.
The 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are universal,
and they are designed to transform our world by 2030.
By the end of 2019, the global effort to achieve better lives
through the SDGs was already off track. In 2020, COVID-19
struck and plunged the world into recession, causing
unprecedented health, social and economic crises, inequality,
and death worldwide. Over 120 million people have been
pushed back to poverty, education has been adversely affected
