Method of preparation (by trituration method):

1. Finely powder salicylic acid in a morter.

2. Finely powder benzoic acid in a morter.

3. Mix (1) & (2) in a morter geometrically.

4. Add castor oil (levigating agent) to the morter and levigate continuously.

5. Add wool fat and white soft paraffin part by part with continuous trituration.

6. Transfer to a wide mouthed screw capped jar and fix the label on the jar.

Comment:

o Type of preparation: Ointment.
o Method of preparation: trituration method because the base is soft and there

    are no high melting points ingredients.
o Castor oil is a levigating agent used to: reduce particle size and make

    smooth dispersion of the material.

Uses:
Antifungal for treatment of fungal infection of skin.
