In the formula for the Doppler effect there are several sign conventions
vs is positive (+) if the sound source is moving away from the listener.
vs is negative (-) if the sound source is approaching the listener.
vp is positive (+) if the listener approaches the sound source.
vp is negative (-) if the listener is moving away from the sound source.
