WELCOME TO OUR FIRST MAGAZINE

Jeimmy Niño Paez, English teacher

Hello to all of you who are reading this magazine! this is teacher Jeimmy Niño from the San Pablo
Apostol Institute, and I want to welcome you to this space created by the students of the 6th, 7th and
8th grade of the school. Here you will find activities, articles, drawings and works developed by them
during the last term.

Of course, it has been created from the English area, but this time it was strengthened through a hu-
man rights project developed by a master’s degree in human rights student, Marcela Beltran.

This experience has allowed us to evidence the importance of learning English within the education
process of the students, since it gives them many tools for the future and it is from the school where
they can get closer with it. Using the class spaces and the self-directed learning they do, they have the
possibility to interact with other cultures, to know more about different lifestyles, in order to under-
stand their customs and ways of thinking and acting.

On the other hand, studying the most spoken language in the world can be useful if at some point of
their lives they want to travel and have new experiences, meet people and be able to communicate
with them without problems.

Learning English also gives the possibility to perceive the real context of things they see in movies
and series, listening and understand the music they like or read a book in its native language, in this
process they will obtain fluency and confidence to express themselves and the tools to carry on some
interesting conversations.
Another advantage for the future is going to be in the working environment, always a person who can
speak English will have some extra benefits and even a better salary than the others, even more if this
person speaks it fluently and is worry about improving the level every single day.

During the year, we have emphasized like English area on the importance of developing communica-
tion skills and the expression of their ideas through a second language.

Here, you will see some of the results of that work, they put all their creativity and effort into these
pages, so, we hope you really enjoy it! Thanks for reading us!
