3. BEST PRACTICES

qualified faculty and/or cite strategies that are reflective of the competence of faculty in
maintain academic integrity in the institutions educational program.
The University has developed and implemented a well-organized faculty and support
personnel development program and activities to sit well with the national drive for global
competitiveness.
The Bachelor of Science in Entrepreneurship faculty, considered as the backbone of the
program, is a pool of 4 well-trained and highly skilled faculty dedicated to delivering
excellent education to the students. Cognizant of the necessity to upgrade its faculty’s
competencies and strengthen their skills in their respective fields of expertise, ISU
management has continuously urged, in fact, pushed its faculty members to pursue
advanced degrees. At present, 3 or 75% of the program’s core faculty hold doctorate
degrees, which not only can be expected to transfer quality skills and knowledge to their
students but also tapped as researchers and trainers in various endeavors.
The university, being supportive to the professional growth of its faculty members, two (2)
faculty members of the program were given scholarship grants, one (1) went on scholarship
by Ford scholarship grant degrees in prestigious universities.
Moreover, the faculty members involved in research and extension programs was given
citations and awards for their exemplary researches and extension projects. Outputs of their
researches were presented in institutional, national and international fora and were
awarded as best papers. Additionally, to strongly uphold the program’s high standard
through instruction, faculty members developed instructional materials to effectively
facilitate the teaching–learning process.
PARAMETER B – RECRUITMENT, SELECTION AND ORIENTATION
1. SYSTEM-INPUTS AND PROCESSES
a. RECRUITMENT AND
APPOINTMENT GENERAL POLICY
Consistent with the objective of the Isabela State University to provide quality education, only the best
qualified applicants shall be recruited as faculty members based on specific academic needs as to education, field
of specialization and relevant experiences. All recruitment/s and subsequent appointment/s to the faculty shall be
based strictly on merit and fitness. There shall be no discrimination in the selection of faculty on account of
gender, civil status, disability, religion, ethnicity, or political affiliations.
For this purpose, the following objectives, policies and guidelines governing recruitment of faculty
members are hereby established.
SPECIFIC POLICIES
The established ISU policies and procedures on recruitment and appointment of faculty shall be in
accordance with the following Civil Service policies and procedures:
1. Recruitment shall be limited to those who meet the minimum requirements prescribed for the rank as per
the qualification standards set by the University.
2. Transferees from other state or local universities and colleges may be admitted at their present faculty rank
in the absence of qualified faculty members in the University.
