             1. Reference queries

There are two types of reference queries:

                     a. The ready reference/directional queries

The questions may be just a request for a direction of the location of a certain material
and which involved a very limited search of the collection or even none at all.

                     b. Search questions

These questions need an exhaustive search of all resources to be able to present a
                     satisfactory answer.

             2. Search Strategies

The following steps are taken by the Reference librarian in locating answers to the queries:

a.Establish and negotiate the query with the client. Select the types of answer providing tools.

               b. Within the answer providing tools, select several titles to search from.

               c. Conduct the search to select the answer, and then submit this to the client
               d. See if the answer is satisfactory for him, if not, renegotiate the query.

             3. Information Resources

The use of different types of information resources shall be subjected to the following
             conditions:

                     a. General Reference Books
General reference books and materials (encyclopedias,
dictionaries, atlases, etc.) shall be for room use only. General reference books, globes, maps,

should be returned within the day.

             b. Theses, Dissertations, Periodicals, Vertical File Materials, Pictures and Maps. These materials
should be used within the library only.
