ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
It is important for all associates to understand their role and delegated responsibilities. The Tampa Metropolitan Area YMCA Summer Camps have an established chain of command.
STAFF ROLES
Camp Counselors:
• Supervises and manages campers
• Promotes good personal relationships, and stays alert to potential health or safety concerns for campers
• Responsible for the health and safety of the campers
• Helps execute activities for each unit Activity/Adventure Instructors:
• Responsible for the planning and implementation of their program area and effectiveness of program
• Facilitates groups at each program area with the support of counselors
• Promotes good personal relationships, teaches planned activities, and stays alert to potential health or safety concerns to campers
Summer Camp Leads:
• May supervise and manage campers and lead activities.
• Can serve as a resource or unit leader for other team members • May help with administrative duties and program planning
Camp Director:
• Supervises and provides support to all staff and campers
• Serves as the main point of contact for parent communication
