Community Outreach

Problem Oriented Policing - POP
& Crime Prevention Units

These units are immersed in our communities and neighborhoods Families Served During

providing programs to enhance quality of life for our citizens and Toy Project
educating our community on safety and crime prevention. The POP
unit has one designated officer assigned to handle homeless calls for
service. That officer fielded 288 homeless referrals, addressed 91 Crime Prevention
homeless camps, and assisted in coordinating 17 CPTED (Crime
Meetings Facilitated
Prevention through Environmental Design) meetings. The POP unit
also conducts operations related to alcohol and tobacco enforcement
in an effort to prevent and reduce crime. Elk Grove PD received
grants supporting these efforts from both the State of California National Night Out

Department of Justice and the California Department of Alcoholic Parties Attended by
Beverage Control. Our department used a portion of the funding to POP
conduct 50 alcohol and tobacco related operations in 2019.
