Draw the crosses,
Draw the crosses.
One a penny, two a penny, Draw the crosses.
Act out putting the buns in the oven and then taking them out when ready. Ask a volunteer to choose which spread to put on the buns. Spread the chosen condiment using your whole right hand (wiping it across the left hand with palm, then back of hand to pulse) as you sing the third verse. Another volunteer chooses a spread and you repeat with the other hand.
Spread the butter/jam/honey...
Sing the fourth verse twice, taking a bite of your bun during each “gap in the
song” (crotchet rest).
Hot cross buns (bite),
Hot cross buns (bite).
One a penny, two a penny, Hot cross buns (bite). (Spoken) Mmm. Delicious!

6. Choreographed dance: ‘Peter Cottontail’ performed by Easter Gang

Teach the children the tricky moves first, then play the track and perform the dance all together, using the choreography from the video.
*Running time approx. 5 mins.
7. Action song: ‘Little Peter Rabbit’ (traditional)
Introduce “Little Peter Rabbit” (your rabbit hand puppet) to the children. Sing the song acapella, using the actions described below.
Little Peter Rabbit had a fly upon his nose, (sit on floor and tap nose to pulse with right hand)
Little Peter Rabbit had a fly upon his nose, (tap nose with left hand) Little Peter Rabbit had a fly upon his nose, (tap nose with right hand) So he swished it and he swashed it and it flew away. (‘swish’ and ‘swash’ hands in front of face)
Flying, flying, flying everywhere x 3 (run around on tippy toes with arms as wings)
So he swished it and he swashed it and it flew away. (as before)
You may need to call “freeze” to regain the children’s attention. Encourage them to sit down again.
Little Peter Rabbit had a spider on his knee, (tap left knee to pulse with left hand)
Little Peter Rabbit had a spider on his knee, (tap right knee with right hand)
Little Peter Rabbit had a spider on his knee, (tap left knee with left hand) So he swished it and he swashed it and it crept away.
