To develop listening and attention through the use of props (egg shakers) and through the use of repeated sequences and to follow the choreography instructed by the teacher
M (N), CL (S) & EAD (MM)
To count to six out loud and to punctuate each number with a shake of the egg shaker
EAD (MM)
To create sound through shaking an egg shaker and to touch instruments and explore their texture
EAD (BI)
To pretend to be an ant marching and building a nest
Dance aims
Balance
To successfully transfer weight from one leg to another when swaying to show antenna
Body Awareness
To extend one finger at a time to represent numbers and to observe the choreography shown by the teacher and recreate it with own body
Motor Skills
To practise fine motor skills through pointing toes and through counting on fingers, to practise manipulative skills through shaking the egg shaker and moving it with intention, to practise gross motor skills including crouching, bending, bouncing, digging, swaying and placing one hand above the other in building motion and to practise locomotor skills through marching around the room
Musicality
To move in time with the pulse and to repeat the sequence of movements performed during the first verse when the verse is repeated (so that the structure of movements reflects the structure of the song)
Spatial Awareness
To negotiate the space while marching around the room like an ant by adjusting speed and direction to avoid obstacles (including other children)
