Props Required
Music player, music speaker, sparkly magic bag, 4 x dinosaur masks (pterodactyl, tyrannosaurus rex, brachiosaurus, stegosaurus and triceratops), parachute and magic sparkles
Lesson Plan
1. Warm-up: ‘Shake Your Sillies Out’ performed by The Wiggles See term one lesson one. Make sure to use lots of energy!
* Running time approx. 2 mins.
2. Stretching and curling: Hedgehogs See term one lesson one.
* Running time approx. 3 mins.
3. Travel to Danceland: ‘The Walking Song’ performed by Peter Combe See term one lesson one.
* Running time approx. 4 mins.
4. Introduce the theme: ‘Let’s Make a Circle’ written by Anne Porter Without speaking, get the children into a circle by singing ‘Let’s Make a Circle’ as in term one lesson one.
Reveal a dinosaur mask (e.g. pterodactyl). Introduce its name and an interesting feature (e.g. that it has wings and flies). After three everyone pretends to be that dinosaur (e.g. flapping wings and making a dinosaur sound). Repeat for each mask.
* Running time approx. 3 mins.
5. Fine Motor Skills: ‘Dinosaur Fingers’ (adapted from the traditional rhyme ‘One Potato Two Potato’)

Say the rhyme three times using the actions from the video.
One dinosaur, two dinosaurs, three dinosaurs, four, Five dinosaurs, six dinosaurs, seven dinosaurs more. And all the dinosaurs go “one, two, three, roar!”

6. Choreographed Dance: ‘D.O.R.O.T.H.Y. (My Favourite Dinosaur)’ performed by The Wiggles

“Now I’m going to teach you a dance about my favourite dinosaur, Dorothy.” Teach the children the tricky moves first, then play the track and perform the dance all together, using the choreography from the video.
