Props Required
Music player, music speaker, sparkly magic bag, 4 x dinosaur masks (pterodactyl, tyrannosaurus rex, brachiosaurus, stegosaurus and triceratops), egg shakers, coloured scarves and magic sparkles
Lesson Plan
1. Warm-up: ‘Shake Your Sillies Out’ performed by The Wiggles See term one lesson one. Make sure to use lots of energy!
* Running time approx. 2 mins.
2. Stretching and curling: Hedgehogs See term one lesson one.
* Running time approx. 3 mins.
3. Travel to Danceland: ‘The Walking Song’ performed by Peter Combe See term one lesson one.
* Running time approx. 4 mins.
4. Introduce the theme: ‘Let’s Make a Circle’ written by Anne Porter Without speaking, get the children into a circle by singing ‘Let’s Make a Circle’ as in term one lesson one.
“Can anyone remember what we learnt about last week?” Reveal dinosaur laminates one by one and see if the children can remember their specific names.

5. Fine Motor Skills: Dinosaur Fingers (adapted from the traditional rhyme ‘One Potato Two Potato’)

6. Choreographed Dance: ‘D.O.R.O.T.H.Y. (My Favourite Dinosaur)’ performed by The Wiggles

“Can anyone remember the name of my favourite dinosaur? Today we’re going to be doing Dorothy’s dance with egg shakers.” Practise the tricky moves with imaginary shakers first, then hand out the real shakers. Play the track and perform the dance all together, using the choreography from the video.
