Next, tell the children, “We’re going to sing the first verse again but this time we’re going to get in our slow, old boats.” Everyone sings the first verse slowly, with slow movements. Then tell the children, “We’re going to sing the first verse again but this time we’re going to get in our super fast, speed boats!” Everyone sings the first verse quickly, with fast movements.

Row Boat = rowing action as you sing ‘Row, row, row your boat’ (the first line from the traditional song)
Submarine = lie on your back, put your legs up in the air to be the periscope and beep like a submarine
Speed Boat = hand to forehead as though looking to the distance, quickly look left to right and say “zoom” (as though you’re watching the boat speed past you)
Cruise Liner = shake maracas as you sing ‘Copa Copacabana’ (from the well known song by Barry Manilow)
Party boat = hold hands with one or two friends, jump up and down and sing ‘Celebrate good times, come on!’ (the first line from the well known song by Kool & the Gang)
