“Put your hand up if you can guess why Tony knows I love him.” Choose two volunteers to answer. If they struggle to answer, make some suggestions. E.g. “Is it because I play nicely with him? Is it because I went to his birthday party? Is it because I give him cuddles?”
Perform the song two more times, encouraging the children to join in with the words as well as the actions.

Opening lines: “The children from Name of ELC/School Class were feeling scared because it was their first day and they didn’t know each other. So their teacher, Mrs Finkle, took them on an excursion to Friendship Land to learn all about making new friends.”

Friends laughing = put hands on bellies and giggle
Friends dancing = boogie on the spot and sing ‘Celebrate good times, come on!’ (the first line from the well known song by Kool & the Gang)
Friends hugging = find a friend or two to hug and say “awwwww” using a sweet, sympathetic voice
Friends sleep over = lie down on the floor and pretend to snore
Lots of friends = everyone takes part in a group hug says “awwwww” even louder than before
