“What can we buy at the florist?”
Verse:
We can buy flowers at the florist, We can buy flowers at the florist, We can buy flowers at the florist. Shopping is so much fun!

So I’ll go to the bakery with my dad, ‘Cause shopping is so much fun!
“What can we buy at the bakery?”
Verse:
We can buy bread at the bakery, We can buy bread at the bakery, We can buy bread at the bakery. Shopping is so much fun!
“Put your hand up if you can think of someone who has taken you shopping, other than your mum or dad. Has anyone been shopping with their uncle or their grandma?” Choose a volunteer to answer. “What other types of shops can we sing about?” Take a suggestion from another volunteer. You may need to suggest shops to choose from (e.g. pet store, supermarket, shoe shop, clothes shop, butcher’s shop, pharmacy, toyshop, bookshop and car shop etc.). Create a new chorus and verse using the volunteers’ suggestions and sing it with the children. Repeat taking ideas from volunteers to create a new verse and chorus one to three more times.

Opening line: “It was the day before Matilda’s birthday party so she and her big brother went to the shops to buy all of the things that they would need.”

Push the trolley = hands in front of you as though pushing a trolley and sing ‘clang, clang, clang went the trolley’ (the first line from ‘The Trolley Song’ by Judy Garland) Shop assistant = hands out to side as though asking a question and say “How may I help you?”
Everything’s on sale = find a friend or two to hug, jump up and down and shout “Yay!” Customer announcement = hand as though holding a microphone and say “clean up on aisle twelve”
Checkout = say “beep, beep, beep” as you mime scanning an item three times
9. Travel back to the real world and give out magic sparkles
