This should be sung the weeks before and after Father’s Day only. If it’s in your plan and it is not one of those weeks, switch it for another action song.
   1. Show the babies a picture of a man in your life that you would like to thank on Father’s Day. "The man in this picture is my dad/uncle/grandad. I brought it to show you because very soon it will be Father's Day/we’ve just had Father’s Day. Now we're going to sing a song to tell our daddies, uncles and grandads how much we love them." Sing the song acapella with the actions. Hands on heart to pulse for each ‘I love my daddy’ and nod head twice for each ‘Yes I do’. Clap hands to pulse for last line. Grown ups to help babies with the actions. Once the adults know the song and actions, accompany the group with your melodic instrument. Make sure to sing all three verses.
2. "Let's make this song even more special." Hand each child an egg shaker and they play along to the pulse. Experiment with fast, slow, loud and soft.
Activities are same as for babies
NB: It’s important to tell the toddlers that Father’s Day isn’t just for daddies. It can be for granddads, uncles or any other special man who helps to look after you.
    1. Same as for babies
2. A selected child tells you who they would like to sing about, and everyone sings the first verse again (substituting ‘daddy’ if applicable). Ask the same volunteer to tell you something that their chosen person likes doing and use their words to make a new verse with matching actions. E.g. ‘He likes singing, yes he does x 3. He’s the best daddy in the world.’ Choose another volunteer and repeat the process. This activity should be done acapella so you can help the children with the changing actions.
3. Same as activity two except the selected children sing the new verses on their own, with everyone joining in on the choruses. You can also try accompanying them on your melodic instrument.
NB: It’s important to tell the pre- schoolers that Father’s Day isn’t just for daddies. It can be for granddads, uncles or any other special man who helps to look after you.
