1. Ask for a volunteer to say their name to the puppet. Your pop-up puppet pops up and sings 'Hello. What's your name?' to the chosen child. It then pops down again and waits for the chid to say their name. If the child has difficulty saying their name ask the more advanced children in the group (or the adults if need be) to tell you the chosen child's name. Once you know the child’s name, the puppet pops up and sings ‘It’s nice to meet you Sarah’ in a silly and playful voice.
1. Introduce your puppet and ask the children to put their hand up if they would like to sing to him. Your pop-up puppet pops up and sings 'Hello. What's your name?' to a child who has put their hand up. It then pops down again. The child responds 'My name is Sarah.' If the child simply says their name (e.g. ‘Sarah’), encourage them to sing it by demonstrating the whole phrase ‘My name is Sarah’ and then ask them to try again. If the child does not want to sing on their own, ask the other children to help. The puppet then pops up again and says ‘Hello Sarah’ using a silly and playful voice (but only if the child or group has sung the response correctly). If there are more than 10 children in the group, choose just a few volunteers and tell the other children that they can have a turn in the next lesson. You could also ask the children to put their hands up if they haven’t had a turn and then have your puppet pop up say ‘hello’ very quickly to all the children that have not had a turn.
2. As above only your pop-up puppet sings to the children using its “high” or “low” voice and the children must respond copying the 'pitch' of the puppet's voice. If the child uses the incorrect pitch, discuss with the group which pitch the child used. Do not say they were wrong, rather observe the voice that was used.
3. As above only the puppet uses its 'high', 'middle' or 'low' voice. Every now and again, pause to ask the group which voice the puppet has just used (high, middle or low).
high C = high voice
G = middle voice
middle C = low voice

Hickory Dickory
All:
Hickory dickory bumble bee,
Can you sing your name for me?
My name is Sarah.
1. One baby is holding the bee and they shake it up and down to the pulse.
Everyone else claps their hands to the pulse. Alter the lyrics to include the name of the child holding the bee. The bee is passed around in the circle until everyone has had a turn.
2. If there are a lot of children you can speed the game up by doing some verses with a “busy bee” and increasing the tempo.
