To dance in time with music

To act out a typical beach story through dance: surfing, putting on sunscreen and a hat, filling a bucket with sand, building a sandcastle and swimming
Dance aims
Balance
To improve balance by pretending to sway side to side on a surfboard
Body Awareness
To observe the choreography shown by the teacher and recreate it with own body
Control
To develop control through jumping
Creativity
To act out a day at the beach through dance
Motor Skills
To improve numerous gross motor skills including swaying, bending, tapping, turning and reaching and to practise locomotor skills through jumping and through pretending to swim around the room
Musicality
To dance in time with the music
Spatial Awareness
To negotiate the space while pretending to swim around the room by adjusting speed and direction to avoid obstacles (including other children)
Strength and Fitness
To improve cardiovascular fitness through performing a high energy activity and to develop strength in legs through jumping

There’s lots to do in the summertime,
But going to the beach is a favourite of mine.
You can build sandcastles in the sand,
And you can visit the ice cream van.
You can fly your kite,
You can swim in the sea,
But the best part of all is eating fish and chips for tea. YUM!
