Music player, music speaker, sparkly magic bag, coloured scarves, Santa hat, Christmas pudding laminate, Christmas tree laminate, parachute, 10 x soft toys and/or finger puppets and magic sparkles
Lesson Plan
1. Warm-up: ‘Shake Your Sillies Out’ performed by The Wiggles See term four lesson one. Make sure to use lots of energy!
* Running time approx. 2 mins.
2. Stretching and curling: Moody Cat See term four lesson one.
* Running time approx. 3 mins.
3. Travel to Danceland: ‘Sleeping Beauty Waltz’ written by Tchaikovsky & performed by Czecho-Slovak State Philharmonic Orchestra

* Running time approx. 4 mins.
4. Introduce the theme: ‘Let’s Make a Circle’ written by Anne Porter Without speaking, get the children into a circle by singing ‘Let’s Make a Circle’ as in term four lesson one.
Put on your Santa hat and wear it for the rest of the lesson. “Can anyone remember which Christmas food is my favourite?” Ask a volunteer to name their favourite holiday food, then encourage the group to mime eating that food. Repeat several times.

5. Fine motor skills: Christmas Pudding See term four lesson eight.

6. Choreographed dance: ‘Wiggly, Wiggly Christmas’ performed by The Wiggles

“Let’s take a look inside my sparkly magic bag to see what today’s song is going to be about.” Take out Christmas tree laminate. Ask the children what goes under the Christmas tree (presents). “It’s time for us to dance around the Christmas tree. Everyone find a partner!” Ask any adults in the class to help you pair up the children. Sing the song acapella three times, using the actions from the video.
