8. Working with Props: ‘Ten Toys on Santa’s Sleigh’ (tune of ‘Two Teddies on a Trampoline’ written by Linda Bance)
“Who can tell me how Santa delivers all the toys on time? What drives his sleigh (reindeer)? Let’s make our own giant sleigh with the parachute and see how all the toys bounce around.” Explain that you must first practise with the imaginary parachute. Sing the song and move your arms up and down to the pulse.
No toys on Santa’s sleigh, boing, boing, boing, boing. No toys on Santa’s sleigh, boing, boing, boing.
“Now let’s try with the real parachute!”
The group holds the edges of the parachute and moves it up and down to the pulse as you repeat the song.
“Now it’s time to put some toys on top!”
Place one toy on top and sing:
One toy on Santa’s sleigh, boing, boing, boing, boing. One toy on Santa’s sleigh, boing, boing, boing.
Repeat for up to ten toys. Make sure to include any Christmas themed soft toys that you have. You can also bring some extra finger puppets and/or soft toys and put them all on at the end and skip to singing ‘Lots of toys Santa’s sleigh etc.’.
NB: Don’t worry if some fall off. They always do!
