Where Are the Children?
Where are the children, Wish I knew.
Pull down your scarves and, Peek-a- (spoken loudly) boo!
1. Hide your face with a scarf and sing the song rocking side to side with your arms out to the side and palms facing up (as if asking “where?”). Quickly pull the scarf away as you say 'Boo!' at the end. When the babies understand the game, give each of them a scarf. Adults help them to cover their faces and pull the scarf off for the 'Boo!' at the end. After a few weeks some of the babies will be able to do this on their own. Some younger babies will prefer for the adult to be the one hiding under the scarf.
NB: For public classes with babies who are not yet sitting, the adults lie their babies on the mat in front of them. The adults put the scarf on their own head (instead of their babies’), and look down at them as they sing.
1. Same as for the babies, however most of the toddlers will be able to place a scarf on their head and pull it off without any help from an adult. It's still important to demonstrate the song before handing out the scarves the first time you do the activity. Make sure you encourage the older children in the class to sing with you.
1. Same as for the toddlers, only all of the children should be encouraged
