Peter Callaghan - Director - Biography
Pete Callaghan has over 25 years’ experience as a health and safety professional.
Pete started his career in health and safety in 1992, as a safety advisor within a multi-site manufacturing, distribution and retail organisation; culminating in him leading the health and safety team prior to him leaving the business in December 2008.
During this time, he developed both his technical and managerial skills, whilst undertaking numerous successful health and safety projects including:
◆ Development of safety policy & safety management system, resulting with in a positive external audit by insurers.
◆ Developmentandimplementationofaprocesstomonitor,auditandquantifysafetyperformance.
◆ Development and introduction of a comprehensive accident reporting management system to
track lost time and reportable accidents within the company; enabling the collation of accident & incident information into agreed key performance indicators, these being delivered to the board of directors for targets and milestones.
◆ Development of risk assessments and safe systems, liaising & working with internal parties & departments.
◆ Responsibility for the proposal, management and control of health and safety budget.
Since leaving employment in 2008 Peter has worked in the private sector for companies of all sizes
providing both health and safety consultancy and training services on a variety of projects.
His industry experience for both consultancy and training services includes:
Manufacturing (Kidde Products, Jiffy Products, Johnson Matthey), Pharmaceutical (Bio Products Laboratory, MeiraGTx), Distribution (Daher Aerospace, Breezemount, British Gas, Caesarstone UK), Retail (Wren Kitchens), Services (Dyno-rod, Rainbow International).
Pete’s achievements to date demonstrate his ability to work in different challenging environments, along with his knowledge and experience within health and safety he has:
◆ Strong communication skills to both internal & external customers along with a proven ability to liaise and build strong relationships with clients.
◆ Strong managerial, analytical and organisation skills, along with the ability to develop and implement a practical and logical approach.
◆ Experienced in planning & managing projects from concept to culmination, demonstrated by completion of health & safety objectives in line with a health and safety plan.
◆ Ability to demonstrate initiative, drive change and improvements within an organization.
◆ Extensive proven training skills; including the formulation, development and presentation of training
packages.
