Here’s 5 Tips to clear the clutter:
1. Ask yourself:
When last did I use that? Years ago? Chances are you no longer need it, and are suffering from the “just in case I need it” syndrome. But, remember that in the hot, humid basement area, most things will have a shorter-than-usual lifespan so by the time you need it, it might not be usable any more. Leather cracks and gets mouldy, rubber disintegrates or cracks, plastic deteriorates and becomes brittle, etc. If you’re not using it, lose it. Give it away or sell it. At least someone else may be able to get use out of it, rather than letting it waste away.
2. Get rid of the dangerous stuff:
Move or dispose of any fire hazards: electrical appliances that are attached to electricity, combustible items like paper, wood, cardboard, and flammable liquids or gas.
3. Get rid of pest magnets:
Wood, paper and cardboard are pests’ favourite breeding spots and a food source, encouraging termites, cockroaches, silverfishes, rats, snakes, etc. To avoid an
