D3 Drive Thru (Exterior)
D3.4 Patio Area
Patio areas should be separated from vehicular
movements to provide a safe family dining
environment. This separation is usually created
with the use of pedestrian safety barriers
including chicanes at entrance, exit and
crossing points.
Safety barriers and seating should be designed
to be fully accessible and not restrict any
customer flow to the principle entrance. Safety
barriers are available in standard height mesh
screens or high glazed panels. Both panel types
are provided in standard lengths and are fitted
between posts. Posts are available with and
without lamp heads.
Within this safe perimeter, seating should be
provided using the standard elements available
with a variety of styles to accommodate all size
and type of customer groups. External furniture
is available from two suppliers which vary in
style; Buton and Aubrillam. Due to the aesthetic
variance, sites must utilise one style of external
furniture only and not mix the two.
Where play equipment is required, McDonald’s
specialist supplier will advise on the units
available together with any additional space
requirements such as safety flooring, drainage,
electrical supplies and any other BWIC that is
required.
Where additional shelter is required for patios,
- Aubrillam offer a range of freestanding
canopies and awnings as part of their furniture
suite.
- Parasols can be added to Buton 4 and 6
seater tables.
- Where seperate courier entrances are being
introduced the designer needs to minimize
any cross over in route for the courier partners
through the patio.
