                                                             lack of focus in our shelter dogs. In more serious cases,
                                                             EASEL helps abused dogs overcome fear issues or misdi-
                                                             rected aggression brought on by fear. Using temperament
                                                             tests, we employ other training techniques to overcome
                                                             any issues we discover.
                                                                   “Many times, a dog will come to us from dire circum-
                                                             stances and will need help not only in trusting a human
                                                             companion, but also in understanding the fundamentals
                                                             of social interaction,” says Mark Phillips, EASEL shelter
                                                             operations director. “We employ training techniques to
                                                             not only help a dog gain confidence and trust in humans
                                                             but also to foster a healthy relationship with its future
                                                             owner, and that includes developing obedience skills.”
