P. 59
Dear Parents,
Usually, at this time, I start off my end of the year letter as, "tag, you're it!" You know,
because the end of the year can be difficult some years. However, this year feels very
different. I am sad. I wasn't ready to say "bye" to your child, my students.
This year started off as one of my best years I have ever experienced in my 13 years of
teaching. This is because of your children. So, instead of saying, "tag you're it" I want to say:
Fine, I guess I'll give you back your child that you entrusted in my care last fall. Now they are
older, taller, and hopefully smarter! It has been my privilege and pleasure to help them in
math this year. We shared the Covid-19 experience together so I will always hold them near.
I wasn't ready to let them go, but I do hope I helped their math mindset grow. I will always be
here for your child. I want to hear all about their accomplishments. Where they go and what
they do. I feel confident that they will overcome this difficult time and when next year comes,
they will be ready to shine!
Thank you again for allowing me to spend this year with your child in my classroom as well
as virtually. I sincerely hope that your family stays well. I am just an email away if you have
any questions or need anything from me. Please give your child a hug from this sappy math
teacher that misses her students. :(
Have a great summer,
Mrs. Ashley Ranum
