              o   A period in which the probability of failure begins to increase rapidly with age

       This is often referred to as the fatigue curve and accounts for approximately 5% of all items.
       It has one distinct phase:
       •   Gradually increasing probability of failure
              o   A period where the conditional probability of failure constantly but gradually
                 increases
