Then Came the Glory
and negotiated with the Evangelical Church to sell them our
churches. When Tekle realized what was happening, he called the pastors and saints together and led by the Spirit of
God, they rejected the trio as leaders.
Ato Hailu returned to the Evangelical Church and
wrote false reports hoping to replace the money he lost from the government. The three men determined by any means,
including murder, to spoil Tekle's name and the name of the church by giving slanderous reports to the communist cadres.
A carbon copy of a letter written by Ato Hailu fell into our hands that read as follows:
Our prosecutors didn't succeed, the God who
protected us has fought for us. A battle took place between the devils who stood for them and the angels who stood for
us~ours won, and we go on with victory. Two have died and one is siffering on the earth
The Evangelicals in Yirgalem bought the regional
secretary of the Workers Party of Ethiopia with a lot of money to put an end to the churches from Aleta, Dalle District, Shebedino, Bensa, Arerssa, Dilla, to Awassa and surrounding districts. When he received the money he boasted, "I will destroy them in one day, don't worry."
Fortunately Tekle suspected what would happen and before the district administrators had time to act on the secret
messages and begin destroying the churches he went to the Commissioner for security of the party and showed him the letter about the bribed man. He made an application for
protection of the churches telling the number of people and churches in every district. The size of the work shocked the
Commissioner and he called all of the administrators and
changed his word, "Don't touch these people, since the case is very risky."
