behind me with a glittering sword held aloft in his hand. He fled in terror.
As Abate brooded over his failure, he finally worked
up his courage to try again. This time the same angel threatened him with his magnificent sword and he hastily
threw the stones out the window, crawled under a bench
trembling, and whimpered over and over, "Forgive me." After a time he confessed his evil plans and requested that
every preacher present pray for him; he then asked to be
baptized in the name of Jesus. The people rejoiced mightily over God's unfailing protection, even when no one knew
danger had come to church.
Brother Abate has untiringly used his welding skills
on windows, doors, roofing and wherever needed in the
construction of the conference center, saving us considerable costs.
A man named Shume came to church with a heart full of hatred determined to kill me. The anointed preaching of the Word crushed his heart and revealed Truth to him. He
repented with many tears, confessing his intentions before the
people. Today in Hagere Mariam he preaches the Gospel he once hated.
We erected a tent inside the walls of the building to protect the crowd from rain for our 1992 Conference. Our guests from America assembled with us: Brother Cleveland Becton, General Secretary of the United Pentecostal Church International; Brother Harry Seism, Foreign Missions director; Brother J.P. Hughes, Regional Field Supervisor for Africa; with their wives and others.
Rain fell freely the previous night filling the canvas
top above our heads and the height did not allow workers to tip the water out before the day service began. Brother
