 Then Came the Glory
The church without power used the scriptures to fight
against us, referring to Matthew 24:24: For there shall arise
false Christ, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, it were possible,they shall
deceive the very elect.
They declared our rejoicing and singing in the
congregation came through demon possession quoting 2 Peter 2:13: ..count it pleasure to riot in the daytime...Jesus in
respect to His name defended us. The more they spoke
against us the more the people came to us.
While Brother Addisu and I preached in other places,
they launched another plan and arrested scores of our saints and put them in prison. They threatened them: "If you will
deny the Apostolic faith and return to your traditional church, we will release you; otherwise, we will arrest every one of this church."
All the brothers and sisters said, "We would rather die than leave our faith."
Then the Kebele leaders offered a compromise. "If
you will not leave your faith, then you must not assemble
together. Every man can pray in his own house with his wife. If you refuse this and meet together to pray, we will
drive you out of town."
We took the preachers to a high mountain and met
together in a dense forest to decide how to react to this ultimatum. I said to them, "A man can die of malaria or
mberculosis or some other disease, but if Jesus allows us to
die, we would rather die for the sake of the Gospel. We have had enough of this earthly life and have chosen the kingdom of heaven hence we will meet on mountains and hills and shout for the victory; we refuse to be silent."
