 CHAPTER FOURTEEN
BORENA REVIVAL
The revival in Borena, Liban province, began in a
surprising manner. In 1980 more than six hundred members of the Lutheran Church decided to study their Bibles in-depth
on the Apostles doctrine and manner of working with a determination to follow their example. After three years of
study, prayer, and intercession, they heard of the Apostolic Church. Encouraged by the contact, Tesfaye Gelesaw, a
government school teacher, transferred to Negelle, Borena for closer contact with the leaders. Through his ministry
Brother Abraham and several other leaders had a revelation of the mystery of truth and wanted to be baptized in Jesus Name.
Since Tesfaye came from Wollayta, he took them by car a two-day journey to Brother Dawit in Wollayta for
baptism. Brother Dawit promised to come to Borena later to baptize others who desired to follow the Lord. When they arrived to keep that appointment water could not be found.
Finally, they baptized six hundred people in a well dug by the Evangelical Church.
