begotten of the Father through the Virgin Mary, He was begotten for the very first time, not for the second time. The Son is the word made heavenly flesh body to serve as the dwelling of the only invisi ble Deity. The Father is manifested in Him; thus the Son is "the brightness of His glory" and "the express
image of his person" (Hebrews 1:1-3). (See II Corin thians 4:4; Colossians 1:15.) Hence, He is the Son of the Father.
Viewing His manifestation in heavenly flesh alone, the Son is less than the Father. Thus He said, "My Father is greater than I" (John 14:28) and "I came forth from the Father, and am come into the world: again, I leave the world, and go to the Fa ther" (John 16:28). Since God is manifest in the Son, however, the Son is much greater and more
honorable than angels and human beings. "Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things un der the earth" (Philippians 2:9-10). (See Isaiah 52:53; Luke 1:35).
Our God, who possesses only one essence, was manifested in the flesh without changing or do ing away with His divine essence. After the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ, our one God worked among men as the Father, in the Son, and as the Holy Spirit
, at the same time.
