0.3% Eye Drops (Prescribability Update)

I’ve had a few questions come through recently about Evolve
Hypromellose 0.3% Eye Drops (10ml, preservative-free) and whether
they can still be prescribed on the NHS. If you’ve had the same query,
here’s the key information you need to know…

Q: Can I still prescribe or dispense Evolve Hypromellose
0.3% Eye Drops on the NHS?

A: From 1 October 2025, this product will be removed from the
st
appliance section of both the England & Wales Drug Tariff and the
Northern Ireland Drug Tariff. As it’s classed as a medical appliance, it
will no longer be prescribable on the NHS in those regions after this
date. It’ll only be available via private prescription or purchase.

Q: What about Scotland? Evolve Hypromellose
0.3% Eye Drops 10ml
preservative free bottle
A: Good news – at the time of writing, it’s still listed in the
Scottish Drug Tariff, so it can continue to be prescribed on a GP10
prescription in Scotland.
