Company Overview
Precision Underground was started in 2008 by Christopher
and Sara Ryckman. In 2019 Tyler Blauert became an owner after
working for the company for 6 years.
Chris grew up on a farm near Pollock, SD. Prior to starting the
company, he worked in the pipeline industry working on many
different pipeline projects throughout the United States. He loved the
opportunity to travel and see the different landscapes of the country.
When he moved to Bismarck in 2008, he used that work experience to
start Precision Underground. He purchased a small boring machine
and a backhoe to start the Company.
Sara grew up on a farm near Milton, ND. She graduated from NDSU
with a degree in Business Administration. She started working for
Gate City Bank in 1997 and was involved with many different roles at
the bank including Teller, Loan Officer, Customer Relationship
Supervisor, and Compliance. While working at the Bank she also did
the administrative work for Precision Underground. In February 2015
Sara left the bank after 17 years to become the General Manager of
Precision Underground.
Tyler grew up near Frazee, MN. He started working for Precision
Underground as a Laborer in 2013. He had previous underground
operations experience working for a telecommunications company in
Minnesota. At Precision he quickly stepped into a leadership position
as a Foreman in 2014 and the Project Manager in Dickinson by 2015.
His dedication and commitment to the company made it an easy
decision for Chris and Sara to ask him to become an owner of the
business.
At the start of the business, Chris and one other employee started
installing rural water lines in Burleigh, Dunn, and McKenzie Counties
in ND. Gradually, the business established relationships with rural
electric cooperatives in western North Dakota installing power cable
and developed relationships with pipeline contractors in the Bakken.
Since its meager start in 2008, the business grew quickly from a two-
man operation to what it is today. The business continues to focus on
growth in the boring and plowing operations.
