531 David Geoffrey BARRETT (1944- ) (Inducted 27.2.1989; left in 1997/98 having moved away
from the district; joined the Rotary Club of Stourport-on-Severn and was
President 2013-14.) Accountancy Service. Partner in charge of the Dudley
office of Birmingham-based chartered accountants Kimberley, Morrison,
Moore & Co. He continued to head the Dudley office, which moved from
King Street to Castle Hill, when the firm was taken over in 1990 by the major
international accountants Moore Stephens. During this period he was a
board member of Dudley & Sandwell Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
He left Moore Stephens in 1996 and also moved home from Withymoor,
Brierley Hill to Hartlebury. For a short period he continued to practise from
home. He is now an active member of the Rotary Club of Stourport.
532 Keith JACKSON (1945 - ) (Member 1980-85 - see #496 -, re-joined 5.7.1989;
President 1991-92; left in 1995/96.) Building societies. Area Manager,
National & Provincial Building Society, based in West Bromwich and living at
Coven. He took early retirement in 1996 following the takeover of National
& Provincial by Abbey National plc and acted as a financial consultant from
home for a few years before fully retiring to Tow Law, County Durham, in
2002.
533 Ian Clark ORR (1954-2014) (Inducted 4.9.1989; President 1996-97; left during 1999 but rejoined
2004 - see #564; died 20.3.2014 whilst still a member.) Veterinary surgeon.
Partner in Black & Partners based at Hall Street, Dudley but with a number
of surgeries around the Black Country. The practice became incorporated
as Blacks Vets Limited in 2008. Ian joined in 1986 and became a partner
in 1989. On the retirement of Alan Black (club member #461) in 1999, he
took over as Senior Partner. Under his leadership the practice continued
to develop into an award-winning, nationally recognised practice offering
advanced surgery and accepting referrals from neighbouring practices, but
he did not live to see the opening of Blacks’ Dudley Veterinary Hospital.
He grew up in Morecambe, then studied Veterinary Science at Liverpool University 1973-78.
After graduating Ian worked as a veterinary Surgeon in Stourbridge prior to spending a number
of years in Kidderminster working for Charnock and Partners. He then spent a short time in
Yorkshire before joining Alan Black in Dudley in 1986. He was an accomplished cook and game
shooter, and supporter of the arts, including the Dudley National Pianoforte Competition. He
split his time between homes in Wombourne and Harborne, Birmingham.
534 Brian Keith ARCHER (1938- ) (Inducted 4.9.1989; President 1998-99; still a
member at 2022.) Accountancy service. International Accountant and
Senior Partner of accountants Griffiths & Pegg of Reddall Hill Road, Cradley
Heath until 2002 and then practising from his home in Mears Coppice,
Brierley Hill as Archer Accounting Services Limited until voluntarily winding
it up in December 2019. Born and raised in Old Hill he joined Griffiths and
Pegg from school as a junior – encouraged by his father who was a client -
and gradually worked his way up to become a Partner. For nearly 60 years
his home has been at Mears Coppice between Quarry Bank and Lye. He
also owns a house at Seixal near Lisbon, Portugal and spends several months there each year.
Until age took over, Brian was a keen golfer.
