Most mayors took little interest in the club whereas a few were regular
attenders. One who took pleasure in attending club meetings was Dr
Kate Rogers (1908-1989), a Dudley councillor for 34 years, the first
female Mayor of the borough in 1971-72 and again 1985-86, and the first
female in the Dudley Club. She was a General Practitioner in Quarry Bank
from 1948 until retiring in 1986, and played a major part in setting up the
charitable trust to establish the Mary Stevens Hospice in Stourbridge.
