586 John Alan CLARK (1947- ) (Inducted 2.9.2019 as Associate Member; full Member from 1.7.2021;
still a member at 2022.) Tool Making Engineering. With John Buckley
(Dudley) Limited, specialists in brass and non-ferrous hot stamping, as
colleague of Tim Rowe (member #519). He is a skilled tool maker who has
spent his working life making dies and tools. Brought up in Tipton he
started work in 1961, at the age of 14, at Ewarts Limited of Birmingham
Road, Dudley, which made hot brass stampings and light engineering
components for a number of industries, including the motor and gas
trade. His first 6 months was in the tool store before serving 5 years
apprenticeship in the tool room working on machines and also attending
college by day release and night classes. He then moved to Westfield Tools, which was
associated with Westfield Stampings of School Street, Dudley, and was there 1965-70. This was
followed by 18 years at Axiom Tools of Netherton, 1970-88. He then joined Buckleys for a few
months before setting up his own business, R J Clark Engineering Ltd, with a brother in 1988. He
retired from the family firm in 2009 and rejoined Buckleys. He now lives in Wombourne.
587 Kerry LOWE (1976 - ) (Member from 4.5.2021 representing corporate
member Tesco Extra, Burnt Tree in succession to Gurpal Sandhu, member
#582 who reverted to Associate.) Grocery and General Merchandise
Retailing. Took over the role of Tesco’s ‘Community Champion’ for Dudley
in October 2019. Brought up in Brierley Hill she attended Thorns
Community College then worked for 3 years at Vee Bee Limited in
Stourbridge, specialist engineers making industrial filters, before becoming
Export Sales Accounts Manager for Corus, Bright Steel Division at
Bloomfield Road, Tipton, from 1995 to 2002. She worked part-time at
Tesco from 2000 and full time from 2002.
590 James Thomas WRIGHT (1979 - ) (Inducted 5 July 2021) Golf Professional. Head Professional at
Penn Golf Club, Wolverhampton from June 2018, where he gives golf
lessons and advice and runs the Pro shop. He is a member of the
Professional Golfers’ Association. Earlier in his career (2007-2010) he was
Golf Club Fitting Manager for Acushnet Europe Ltd, the world’s largest
manufacturer of golf equipment including the Titleist brand, based at St
Ives, Cambridgeshire. He then became Golf Pro and Golf Operations
Manager at Swindon (Staffordshire) Golf Club near Wombourne, followed
by the Pro at Market Drayton Golf Club from 2016, before joining Penn. A
very keen runner, in 2019 he completed 31 marathons in 31 days and
another run of 90 miles, all in aid of Acorns children’s hospice, Walsall. He was raised in Cradley
Heath (?) but now lives in Wolverhampton where he and his wife are foster carers.
