Secondary Modern School, Sedgley.  This in turn led to her being appointed a Geography teacher
                        at Dormston in 1965 and in 1976 a Head of Year, during which time the school changed to co-
                        ed and then comprehensive.  In 1987 she left Dormston to become an Advisory Teacher working
                        with schools across the south of Dudley borough. In 1989 she returned to the classroom as a
                        Senior Teacher at The Buckpool School.  In 1993 she was appointed Deputy Headteacher at
                        Alexandra High School and Sixth Form Centre, Tipton, and a year later was made Headteacher.
                        She maintained her interest in the Guides by becoming Guider at All Saints’, Sedgley, and also
                        District Commissioner.  She has been a Governor at The Dormston School since 2000 and Chair
                        of the Governors 2002-2014.  She is a trustee of Baylies Educational Foundation and an active
                        member  of  Bilston  Probus  Club  since  2010.    She  is  Editor  of  the  Rotary  club’s  quarterly
                        newsletter The HUB which won the national Rotary Club Bulletin Award in 2015.

                  573  Barry ADAMS (1937-2017) (Joined 1.7.2011; died 1.4.2017 whilst still a member. Previously a
                                            member of the Rotary Club of Brierley Hill from 1989, President 1996-97,
                                            club  Treasurer,  and  made  Paul  Harris  Fellow  2011.)  Nursing  Home
                                            Supplies.  Director of Nursing Care Midlands Limited based in the Wallows
                                            Industrial Estate, Brierley Hill, his daughter being Managing Director; and
                                            also  a  director  1991-2001  of  Countrywide  Care  Network  Ltd,  a
                                            consortium of seven health-related service companies.  In retirement he
                                            became a director and assisted with finances at his son-in-law’s company
                                            L A Air Conditioning Solutions Limited and was a Director/Trustee 2002-
                                            14 of the charity Wordsley Housing Society which provides housing and
                        support to adults with long-term mental health problems.  Born and raised in Tipton, he served
                        an apprenticeship at Nortons-Tividale Limited, colliery plant and equipment manufacturers of
                        Dudley Road, Tividale.  This was interrupted by being called up for National Service, but he
                        stayed on to have six years in the RAF.  As a Brierley Hill Rotarian he was instrumental in creating
                        many fund-raising events.  His home was in Hunters Ride, Wordsley from at least the early 1980s.

                  574  Anthea (‘Anne’) Mary C DAVIES, JP (1941-   ) (Joined Brierley Hill club early
                        2004, was its President 2010-11, and made Paul Harris Fellow 2011; joined
                        Dudley  1.7.2011;  left  30.6.2012  after  moving  home  to  Perton,
                        Wolverhampton.)  Education, Secondary.  Retired teacher of mathematics
                        and of special needs children.  She was brought up in West Bromwich and
                        attended  the  local  grammar  school.    In  her  mid-20s  she  attended
                        Birmingham University and obtained a BSc degree in Mathematics before
                        going into teaching.  Later, as a mature student, she gained an MA for
                        research on ‘Educational Management in Secondary Schools’.  The greater
                        part of her teaching career was at the Sir Gilbert Claughton School in Dudley as Head of Special
                        Needs, until it was closed in 1990.  Dudley Education Authority then posted her to other schools
                        in  the  borough  including  Kingswinford  Secondary  School  and  the  Pensnett  College  of
                        Technology, and finally Castle High School, from which she retired but stayed on for a time as a
                        supply teacher.  She served as a magistrate on the Dudley Bench from 1992 to 2011, and was a
                        Samaritan for 9 years.
