CASE 3—CLASS 3 BITE WITH A COMPLETE ANTERIOR CROSSBITE - INVISALIGN FIRST:
The third case was a Class III bite with a complete anterior crossbite. Common approaches for Class III are to use a reverse-pull headgear for early
treatment or to just wait until the patient is fully grown to initiate the treatment. However, because aligners are relatively comfortable compared to
a reverse-pull headgear, starting earlier had a lot of upside and very little downside. Avoiding unnecessary wear to the incisors, and not allowing
compensatory tooth movements to occur were significant potential benefits. Delayed orthodontic treatment would have required undoing all the
dental compensations that may have occurred in the meantime, so early treatment helped avoid these malformations in the first place. n
