Liliana’s Journey with Adhiyogi: A Decade of Transformation
Liliana Quander, a talented dancer and artist based in Washington, D.C., began her journey with Adhiyogi in the early 2000s. At the time, she was already a seeker—interested in depth, authenticity, and spiritual refinement. But it was through her encounter with Adhiyogi’s teachings that she discovered a path that was not only transformative but deeply rooted in clarity, tradition, and relevance.
In a heartfelt reflection from 2002, Iliana expressed how Adhiyogi’s method—what he termed the “Authentic Yoga System”—offered her far more than postures or technique. It was, to her, a living roadmap. Beginning with Sanskrit and Chanting, she immersed herself further into Hatha Yoga, Philosophy, Meditation, and even Teacher Training. As a performer, she immediately noticed the profound effect this practice had on her movement and awareness. Her headstand improved, her sense of her body sharpened, and her dancing became more fluid—guided now by an internal rhythm informed by Yoga.
What Liliana appreciated most was Adhiyogi’s rare combination of traditional grounding and present-day pragmatism. “He is a true scholar,” she wrote, “but practical—sometimes even incredibly humorous—in how he applies those ideas to our lives today.” Whether students came for physical fitness or philosophical insight, Adhiyogi met them at their level, always anchoring his teaching in the original purpose of Yoga: personal transformation rooted in peace.
Nearly ten years later, in 2011, Iliana reached out again. This time, her words carried the weight of memory and gratitude. “I think of you every day,” she wrote to Adhiyogi. “The things you taught continue to serve as a roadmap for my life.” Life may have carried her far from the yoga classroom, but the teachings had become integrated—subtle but steadfast.
From her initial explorations of chanting and Sanskrit to an enduring connection that lived on through years and miles, Liliana's journey reflects what Adhiyogi’s system was always meant to do: awaken something deep and sustaining within. Her story is not only about learning Yoga— but about living it.
