 3.11 īśvarapraṇidhānādeva rājayogasāphalyaṁ haṭhayogasāphalyaṁ cānyathāsāphalyam। Only with Īśvarapraṇidhāna, Rājayoga and Haṭhayoga become successful, otherwise
unsuccessful.
Haṭhayoga first proposes Amanaska stage through Kuṇḍalinī, and later Rājayoga via Nādānusandhāna. Of course, Rājayoga is supposed to lead to Spiritual Liberation from Body- Mind complex. Thus, Haṭhayoga Yoga becomes minimally successful when Rājayoga begins with Nandanusandhana. Rājayoga as explained in Haṭhayoga becomes fully successful when all four stages of Nandanusandhana are completed. However as explained in the Sutra 3.9, these goals are possible only when the ego of a person is totally eradicated or transcended. It has been fully explained how the eradication of ego is possible only through Īśvarapraṇidhāna in the Sutras 1.6 and 1.7. Thus, Haṭhayoga as well as Rājayoga become successful only when Īśvarapraṇidhāna is practiced. And there is no other alternative to Īśvarapraṇidhāna in this matter. Many references are given in Sections 1 and 2 regarding the essential nature of Īśvarapraṇidhāna. However, in this Sutra, we are considering, in this Sutra, the references from the Hathayoga texts.
