CHAPTER I

                                                               PRELIMINARY

                  A. Title Description

What do you know about descriptive text? Descriptive Text is text that describes something
like a person, thing, event, or place. Descriptive text provides a detailed explanation so that

readers understand the object of information they are looking for.

Have you ever observed a famous or historical tourist spot? You will definitely describe the

object according to what you observe, such as museums, historical buildings, waterfalls, lakes,

and etc. Do you know why we need to study descriptive text? This is important because
describing an object or a particular object is very important to know our understanding of the

object seen by our five senses.

                  B. Precondition

In the previous material, the understanding of descriptive text, social functions, vocabulary

used in descriptive text, grammar, and linguistic elements has been presented. To be able to

understand this module, you are expected to have read descriptive text material, especially on
tourist attractions or historical buildings. In addition, try to understand the descriptive text about

the characteristics of tourist attractions or objects that you have seen. If you have met these
prerequisites, then you will be able to describe these tourist attractions and their benefits to your

               life.
