Supporting Student Notes:
• Supporting Point 1: The 1000v is managed and ‘looks like’ a Nexus switch, i.e. the same functionality & management
of switching right into the hypervisor
• Supporting Point 2: 1010 can have different combinations of virtual services as appropriate to the customer
VSM = Provides the single management point for all Nexus 1000v in a domain
VSG = Provides security firewall functions between VMs (appliance located so it is active before the server farm boots).
Most useful in a multi-tenant type environment
NAM = for undertaking all forms of network analysis, include RPORT analysis
DCNM = Point of management for all DC switches (Ethernet, SAN & Unified)
