Customer Challenges
Challenges & Opportunities
• Customer had multiple versions of XenApp and XenDesktop licenses as on-premises instances managed in geographically dispersed DCs
Customer was satisfied overall, but user experience was inconsistent and management was labor intensive
• Strategic project with global visibility and upcoming license renewal were catalysts for discussion of Citrix Cloud
• Discussions began in April 2016 and deal closed Sept 2016 (six months)
Challenges & Opportunities
• On-premises DC was at maximum capacity and unable to keep up with demand
• Keep legacy workloads on-premises; move new customers into Microsoft Azure
• Customer running older version of XenDesktop nearing end of support. On-prem upgrade would require significant CAPEX and business
disruption
• Need to provide their multiple ‘clients’ each with their own compute demands for resource and client applications having to spec their on-
premises datacentres to handle seasonal peak loads
• Require a flexible, scalable infrastructure that adapts to cyclical business requirements
Challenges & Opportunities
• Existing XenDesktop customer with multiple data centers and over 200 locations worldwide, who was experiencing user complaints due to
WAN latency and reliability
• Existing network failover methodology relied on traditional routing protocols, which have slower failover times and don’t consider link
quality in failover decisions
• The customer also wanted to reduce the cost of app delivery while improving the performance and reliability of VoIP calls
