Carl Leaves Home

“It’s peaceful living here on the floor of the rainforest,”

thought Carl one night when the moon was full.

“I do love my home here in the jungle, but I want

to see more. I would like to go to the beach and see

the ocean. I want to climb up high, look out over the

ocean, and see how far I can see. Maybe I could see the

ends of the earth!” thought Carl to himself.

“I want to make new friends and learn new things;

if I don’t like it there, I can always come back to this

cozy place,” thought Carl.

“Oh, what should I do?” Carl asked himself.

“I’m so confused.” Carl sat quietly for a few minutes,

then he blurted out.
