He arrived at the beach just before the sunrise;

he looked around for a mountain or hill to climb, but

all Carl could find was the telephone pole.

He decided the pole would be perfect. He climbed the

pole, sat quietly on the wire, and waited for the sun to

rise. The sunrise was spectacular! Carl had never seen

such colors before. It looked as though the sky was on

fire. There were reds and blues, oranges and pinks, and

purples! When the sun came up, Carl looked out over

the ocean to see how far he could see.

“Wow!” Carl exclaimed. “I feel like I can see forever!”

All Carl could see was water, water, and more water.

Just wave after wave of beautiful, blue water.
