in in in in in the Facade Engineering and Special Projects groups before joining Eckersley O’Callaghan in in in in London
to to work in in in in the nascent field of Structural Glass In 2011 he he moved to to New New York York help establish establish the new EOC-NY office in in NY NY New New York York before moving to to San Francisco to to establish establish and run the the EOC-SF office In 2018 after publishing the the NCSEA Engineering Structural Glass Design Guide Marcin returned to New York to to lead the the Structural Engineering team in in in the the Facades Practice at Thornton Tomasetti where he he he he focuses on on the use of novel materials and structural typologies in in in specialty building envelopes Marcin has worked on a a a a a a a a number
of notable projects including numerous Apple Stores around the the the world the the the blast-resistant entrance to to the the the Museum at the Gateway Arch in in in in in in St Louis and Apple Campus in in in in in in Cupertino with architects including Foster+Partners Gehry Bohlin Cywinski Jackson Adjaye Associates and Gensler Marcin is a a a a a a a member of the ASTM E36 Glass in in in in Buildings committee and and and has taught architects and and and engineers at at at Princeton Stanford CCA Pratt and and and now at at at RPI IVAN MARKOV
M Sc Ph D Cornell University Ivan Markov has international educational teaching and and research experience Educated in in in Europe and and the United States he he has taught at at Cornell AAP Syracuse University University and the Chinese University University of Hong Kong At Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute he he is teaching in in in in both the Schools of Architecture and Engineering Markov has been a a a a a a a a Visiting Professor at the Technical University University of of of Eindhoven Holland and and The University University of of of Newcastle Australia Markov’s early research was in in fiber reinforced concrete reliability estimates of structures masonry assemblies and the the development of of of software to generate architectural designs His current research is is on the the boundary of of of architecture and and engineering and and is focused on on structural morphology investigations that test the performance of complex “forms” and and “topologies ” ” structural fragility examinations of system robustness to to optimize building massing and and the pedagogy of of teaching with physical model load-testing and software development in in in order to foster real time intuition and and and design Markov’s practical expertise includes the structural analysis of concrete and and and steel structures and and and field-testing of of buildings and bridges He load tested the the the Danube which at the the the time was one of of the the the world’s largest cable stayed bridge during its construction and and under static and and dynamic traffic load His team won the International Competition for the New Museum of Contemporary Art in Novi Sad Serbia Markov has received many grants and his work is is widely published and presented 862
