       Crying is the very last sign of hunger, so if you manage to pick up your baby’s messages

       before then they will be used to you anticipating their needs and won’t feel the need to

       cry for them. The cues can be split into early, mid and late and usually the baby will work
       their way through until you get the hint.   



     Early cues

       Clenched fists

       Starting to stir

       Turning head/rooting

       Mouth opening




     Mid cues

       Stretching
       Increased movements

       Putting hand to mouth




     Late cues

       Agitated movements

       Turning red in the face

       Crying
